Chess Club starts October 5th
Chess club provides students an opportunity to learn and play chess. An instructor provides a weekly lesson and will work with them on their games. Children who are interested can join Green Lake’s team at tournaments throughout the area.
When: Fridays after school until 4:00, beginning Oct 5th, in the library.
Who: Chess club is open to students of all grades. Girls are especially encouraged to join. We will take up to 22 students (due to limited space, and parental supervision) on a first-come, first served basis, giving priority to returning chess club members. If parents can volunteer, we can take up to 35 students.
Cost: $60.00 - which pays for the Chess Mates instructor(s) for the entire year. Those eligible for free/reduced lunch are exempt from fee; please note this if applicable.

Join the 2007 Governor's Health Bowl and Whole Foods Market Challenge
Governor Gregoire is determined to make Washington the healthiest state in the nation and has initiated a statewide competition to encourage families to get some exercise this fall. Participation is simple: all you have to do is keep track of your family's various activities and log them at HealthiestState.org.
Download a flyer with all the information.
The top two schools will earn $5000 cash prizes. In addition, our local Whole Foods Market - Roosevelt has joined the Healthiest State in the Nation campaign to highlight the nutritional aspects of a healthy lifestyle. If you attend any of the great events scheduled by Whole Foods - Roosevelt during the month of October (download the October events newsletter), you are eligible to win a kid's party for twelve and may help Green Lake obtain a 5% Community Support Day at the Roosevelt store.
Contact LB Kregenow (lbkregenow@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

Curriculum Night, September 20 @ 6:50pm
- 6:50pm: Greeting in Library
- 7:00pm: Teacher Presentations
- 7:50pm: Teacher Presentations
This is a very important night! It starts at 6:50 in library with a brief greeting from our principal. Then each teacher will give two 40 minute presentations- one at 7pm and one at 7:50. This allows families with more that one child in the school to visit more than one classroom. The presentations are exactly the same. Sorry--children are not allowed at these presentations, but there is free childcare in the gym!
